The brilliant Hip Hop Chip Shop food truck serve fish and chips from a seriously cool stainless steel boombox catering trailer equipped with a bangin’ sound system. They are a thing of Manchester fame and their efforts have not gone unnoticed; they were voted ‘Best Street Food’ in Manchester Food & Drink Festival in 2017. Don’t eat fish? No bother our kid - ‘Soyz N The Hood’ is a delish vegan option with battered so and seaweed vegan fish steak!
The bird is the WORD for Oh My Glaze - Manchester’s very own chicken specialists. All of their glazes are homemade to ensure the flavour is top quality and pretty much addictive - trust us. Roll up your sleeves if you want to try their renowned chicken wings - you’ll have to get your hands dirty to enjoy them in all their glory but holy cluck is it worth it.
After training in a traditional pizza parlour, Robin decided to bring wood-fired cooking to Greater Manchester. He saw a wonderful world where everyone had access to proper pizza made in the original, world heritage protected, 500-year-old tradition and everyone would know what real pizza tasted like. Woodstock Pizza was born. Thank you, Robin- truly. Top Feast It recommendation - ‘Hey Pesto’: a gorgeous stonebaked pizza topped with basil, parmesan, pine nuts, walnuts, goats cheese and honey.
It’s Manchester - chips and gravy has to feature somewhere in this list! The brilliant Blue Caribou Canteen are bringing authentic Montreal-style poutine to UK in a way that nobody else is! It comes as absolutely no surprise that they've already got some great accolades to their name. ‘Best Newcomer’ and ‘Best Food to Go’ in the Skinny Magazine’s annual food and drink survey as well as being nominated for a City Life award in the Best Casual Dining’ category. Chips and gravy just got chic.
Wallace and Sons was founded by chef John Wallace who, after 12 years as a chef, decided it was time to bring Pan Asian dumplings and bao buns to the Manchester street food scene. You’ll be shaking John’s hand for his decision as soon as you’ve tried his Chicken Katsu Bao Bun - think panko chicken thigh, pickled shiitake mushrooms and wasabi mayo. Divine.
Chaat Cart serve homestyle South Indian Street food using only the best seasonal British produce. Whether it’s food served from their charming trailer or full sit-down wedding service, you can guarantee you'll be getting the very highest quality. It's no surprise at all that they were a finalist in the 2016 Manchester Food & Drink awards and their Manchester-based restaurant is a well-known to locals who rave about their food! Big claim, but theirs is the best Chicken Kati Roll in the UK hands down.
Bored of the lack of vegan food on the Manchunian street food scene? Well fear not friend, how about a trip to Wholesome Junkies for a spot of vegan junk food. That’s right: Vegan. Junk. Food. They advise you ditch the falafel balls and quinoa ASAP and instead welcome their vegan Kentucky fried cauliflower burgers, wings, hot dogs and kebabs with open arms! You may have caught a glimpse of Wholesome Junkies on the BBC 2 programme 'Million Pound Menu' where they showcased their amazing plant-based menu.
Grandad’s Sausages is a take on the American classic; the sausages are homemade by the team to their Grandad Bernard’s unbeatable 50-year-old recipes. Grandad’s won ‘Best Sausage’ in Manchester 2015 as well as being UK runner up for ‘Best Sausage’ in 2018, so they are clearly doing something right! For a true taste bud sensation you can’t miss ‘Grandma’s Spicy’ a squidgy hot dog topped with jalapenos, roquito peppers, crispy onions and sriracha mayonnaise. Ay carumba!
Hailed as Manchester's best, the What’s Your Beef burgers are made fresh to order, from ethically and locally sourced grass fed beef, dry aged for 28 days and 100% traceable. And also ridiculous tasty. You have to try the ‘Fiery Bull’ burger which certainly packs a punch, it comes served with chorizo, manchego cheese and their homemade sweet and fiery chilli sauce.
