Ah the Yuletide. That wonderful time of the year when we've all agreed that an extra two inches round the waist is all part of the fun; when we can justify a bit of extra 'Christmas' blubber for insulation purposes over the next few months.
Here at Feast It, we fully advocate a whole hearted approach to festive gluttony but don't see why should be restricted to boring old turkey and stuffing. So, to help you on your way to diverse seasonal satisfaction, we've compiled a list of some of London's best street food Christmas specials. Enjoy!
The Sprout Pizza by Van Dough
No longer to be feared, the humble sprout has been enjoying a well justified renaissance in recent years. The maestros over at Van Dough are sticking them on top of their unbelievably delicious pizzas, alongside bacon lardons, chestnuts, mozzarella and brandy cream to create a true Christmas miracle.
Find them at St. George's Church car park, Vancouver Road on Thursday the 22nd and then at the Blythe Hill Tavern on Friday the 23rd.
Christmas Pudding Brownie Balls by Bad Brownie
Bored of the same old traditional Christmas pud? Fear not, the incredible guys at Bad Brownie have got you covered! The picture does more talking than words ever could but safe to say the filling of boozy cream and a butterscotch centre will have you weak at the knees.
You can find them at King's Cross Market up until Friday the 22nd as well as at The Southbank Centre, One New Change (between St Pauls Station and Mansion House) and Spitalfields on the same Friday.
The Fat Santa Box by Ladle & Skillet
A festive offering from one of the most established staples of London's truly wonderful street food scene. A delicious heated wrap with lamb neck fillet, hummus, salad, tomato chilli sauce & yoghurt mint dressing in a heated wrap, served with falafel and skin on fries. The real Santa would be down to the Southbank in a heartbeat to pick one of these up...
Find them at the truly magical Southbank Christmas Market right up until January the 8th.
Crimbo Curry by Spicebox
An offering from the wonderful Grace at Spicebox, cooking up some of tastiest curries in London with absolutely no animal fats, sugar or general nastiness at all. Spicebox's offering is the 'Crimbo Curry', a rich tomato curry sauce with an Xmas spice mix of cloves, cinnamon, cumin and peppercorns, packed with brussels sprouts, roast squash and, best of all Christmas stuffing kofta balls.
You can find this for one day and one day only at the Kerb Xmas Charity Market at the Gherkin on the 22nd of December.
Aunty J's Jamaican rum cake by Only Jerkin'
The jerk chicken geniuses have gone down the devilishly delicious desserts route for their Christmas special this year. They've created a decadent Jamaican rum cake and, for good measure, thrown a dollop of rum ice cream on top. Basically, if you like rum, this is the best thing you'll ever taste...
You'll find them at the Street Food Union market in Soho until Friday, and at Kerb markets in Kings Cross and West India Quays markets between Wednesday and Friday.
