The British summer months were made for Pimms in the park, and enjoying BBQs in your garden where the sun shines till nine at night. If you’re celebrating a special day this summer and want to do it American-style, or you simply have an enormous family and there isn’t a BBQ big enough for everyone to get their burger at the same time, street food traders could be the ultimate solution. The days of pyrex dishes filled with burnt sausages and vegetables that never stay on the skewer, are behind us… enter the age of the magical BBQ that requires zero washing up. Not only is a BBQ about being outside with friends and family, it’s also about bold taste, smoky flavour and copious amounts of food. Our scrumptious menu of traders has something for everyone, with veggies, kids and teetotallers all accounted for.
Appetiser by Jackalope’s All American
As the guests arrive at your big cookout, give them a taste of all the deliciousness to come with a tub of premium macaroni and cheese from Jackalope’s All American. These guys make truly magnificent, authentic mac ‘n’ cheese that comes with a whole host of BBQ toppings, including juicy pulled pork, buffalo chicken, and smoky pulled jackfruit for the veggies (they even do a vegan mac that’s just as good as the regular ones!) Smothered with their own special recipe BBQ sauce, their macaroni is loaded with Cheddar, Monterey Jack and Provolone, so you can expect some massive cheese pulls. For guests that might not fancy mac n cheese, there are also tasty wraps on their mouthwatering menu.
Main Course by Smoke Catering
If you want truly genuine barbecue fare, look no further than Smoke Catering, who provide wonderful Texan-inspired food - proper grub with a seriously sophisticated edge. Run by a husband and wife team, the geniuses behind Smoke both learned their impressive meat smoking skills in The Beef State itself. Your BBQ guests will absolutely love this real, salt of earth catering, where juicy meat is slow-cooked inside a 12-foot long smoker, and tantalising smells waft all around. Obviously the star of the show is Smoke’s meat, including their pulled pork that is slow roasted for 7 hours, their hot salmon that is smoked on planks of cedar wood, or their brisket that is smoked for… wait for it… 9 whole hours. There’s no doubt about it, these two really know what they’re doing. There’s also a fantastic menu of side dishes to perfectly accompany the meat and fish, such as Texan BBQ beans, garlic mash, roasted sprouts, and chilli and lime corn on the cob. Veggies can enjoy the sumptuous salads, such as fennel, sweet potato and roasted beetroot.
Main Course by Babek Brothers
To put an exciting little twist on the classic BBQ, why not book Babek Brothers and let them serve your guests with excellent kebabs and creative cocktails? Inspired by their worldly travels, the Babek Brothers have picked up recipes from all over, bringing together a tantalising mixture of bread recipes from Greece, koftas from Turkey, and pickles from India, to create the most delectable kebabs. All of their meat is totally free range and grass fed so you can expect really good quality food. Though their menu is innovative and ever-changing, they do have four classic kebabs… The Kim Koftashian, The Notorious P.I.G, Tikka Turner, and Nigel Fromage (for the herbivores). Despite these playful names, the flavour is elegant and there are plenty of BBQ suitable sides, including scallions, aubergine salads and feta and mint fries. The brothers also serve great cocktails, our favourite involving apple tea, lavender, lemon, soda and gin.
Dessert by Sorbitium Ices
