Two University friends have come together to create Grate - one previously a chef followed by a career in food publishing for leading magazines BBC Good Food, and Olive. The other a keen foodie with a background in Asian flavours.
Grate was founded on true love for the humble potato. Having worked in and sampled London's street food offering over the last few years we noticed a lack of homage to this versatile ingredient. The team decided to use their favourite form of potato, the delicious rösti, and take it from its Swiss origins and transport it around the world, with toppings touching different corners of the globe.
They are doing this from their lovely Alpine-inspired food truck called ‘Gertrude’ from which they can serve an impressive 100 portions an hour from which means little to no queuing for you and your guests!The team source all of their meat from local suppliers, and all their veg is from New Covent Garden market.
All of their sauces and marinades are homemade from scratch using naturally sourced gluten-free ingredients. T only use sustainable packaging, made from 100% biodegradable-recyclable materials.
