Vietnamese Fried Chicken
Crispy chicken thigh, pickled carrot and pink onions, crushed peanuts, red chilli with a fresh mint, coriander and cabbage slaw
From their beautiful 1970s Bedford food truck or gazebo, Kitchenette Karts serve exciting street food inspired by the diverse communities of the East End - cooked by young trainee chefs from East London.
As a social enterprise, every penny they take is reinvested into their work training young unemployed Londoners to gain skills, move into work or start their own food businesses. Their trainee chefs are supervised by an experienced team including a chef from Morito and staff from Yum Bun.
Kitchenette Karts cook authentic street food inspired by the history of the streets around them, right around the corner from the docks, where some of the first Sephardic Jewish immigrants settled in London, and the first Chinese cooking came to the UK, up the road from Little Vietnam in Mare Street, near the Sri Lankan community in East Ham, the Bangladeshi dishes in Brick Lane, the African-Caribbean families in Hackney and many more.
They serve lip-smackingly good sandwiches, our favourite is their Vietnamese Fried Chicken sandwich - crispy chicken thigh, pickled carrot and pink onions, crushed peanuts, red chilli with a fresh mint, coriander and cabbage slaw - yum! If you'd like to see Kitchenette Karts at your next event, see if they are available and book them here on Feast It!
